Great family hotel for summer holidays
The breakfast buffet was very crowded the first day (high occupancy at the hotel) and despite the staff filling up all the time, so ran out very much several times. More of everything had been part of the solution, the cheese, whipped cream, coffee, scrambled eggs, forks, milk and glasses ran out during our first breakfast. Just one bread station was the biggest problem when many wanted to eat at the same time, it would have helped a lot with two bread stations.
The staff was great. The second day there were not nearly as many who ate breakfast (the same time) and then it also worked very better.
We had lunch 2 times and also dinner a couple of evenings at the hotel restaurant. The a la carte menu does not impress, the service is excellent. Generally empty at the entire restaurant in the evening, even though an hour earlier it was full on every sun lounger. Lunches, the quality of the day was better we thought. All hotel guests are guaranteed dinner, but not at the hotel. The hotel could have had a great menu, with children's buffet and barbecue (plenty of room to grill lots of good outside, had been a success!).
SPA bath on roof terrace
Located on the roof terrace and the water was green and milky (not clear), but open and warm. Children get to bathe, which is really good. The pool bar is closed during the day, but open in the evening. On the roof terrace there is also a shower (indoors, lockable) and a toilet.
The hotel room - room 532 (building 5, floor 3)
In our hotel room - family grand delux, there was fridge, freezer, dishwasher and nespresso machine, please bring your own capsules, there are 3, plus a decaf at check-in, these are refilled every three days, or you may ask for more when you see the cleaners or at reception. We never cooked, but the kitchen seems to have most, in all simplicity, if you need. However, no kitchen towel, but dish soap, dishcloth, dish brush available. A table with 4 chairs was also available.
Shower in the bathroom, plus with a bathroom cabinet where you can put your stuff which we appreciated (usually missing in hotel rooms). The bath towels were small. Combined pump shampoo and shower gel in the shower (no conditioner), a pump gel by the sink. Heat in a towel rail, if desired.
A double bed plus a bunk bed (the kind you fold out from the wall plus a sofa bed underneath. The bedroom is small, hardly no floor space. We had to keep the suitcases on the floor in the kitchen. In the closet there were 4 hangers, on the hat rack fans no hangers at all, but some hooks. It gets crowded for 4 people, we were 3 and it worked, but to cook among the suitcases on the kitchen floor I do not think you should have as plan.
As many other guests have already written, there is no AC, it gets really hot. There is a large window in the bedroom that can be fully open (angled outwards at 90 degrees), if you open at the same time the front door fans it right through and it helps. We sometimes opened the door at night when we were boiling, it works pch the area feels calm and safe. There is also a portable fan, but it does not help to lower the temperature when it is hot. House 5 (which we stayed in) does not have the evening sun straight in / straight on, but rather obliquely on, which was probably an advantage for our room.
It says on a note in the bathroom that the rooms are cleaned every 3 days unless you tell the reception to clean them daily/more often. This means that they do not refill coffee capsules daily either.
The room lacks iron and ironing board which is puzzling because there was plenty of room to put it in the room's cleaning cabinet, which was instead empty, without shelves / drawers and without hangers, so in other words no very useful with that cabinet anyway. However, there is an ironing board and iron at reception. Did not understand the hotel's thought with this. Should I go downstairs and iron at reception? Or should you go downstairs and carry an ironing board and an iron every time you want to iron?
There is a lot of traffic on the street outside and on public holidays the young people of Gotland drive around in the evenings and nights with their EPA cars, rolled down windows and play music so loud. Also some other mopeds, motorcycles etc. It's not quiet. However, I did not experience the hotel loudly at all. Never felt that it was responsive. Was not disturbed by hotel neighbors once during our week, no late hotel music (the hotel is quiet and nice even during the daytime.
We would have needed late Check-out because our trip from Gotland departed late at night, but it was completely impossible, even though there were plenty of available/unbooked rooms in that room category, as well as other rooms. Then we asked instead about the possibility to rent a day room (as you can for example at the hotel competitor Novi hotel in Visby), but that was not possible either. The only option was to pay full price to get a room for a few more hours.
Strange that the strategy laid down by the hotel management is to earn zero SEK by leaving the rooms empty in front of receiving a penny for guests who leave the hotel later in the day and wish to rent a day room (of course, day rooms must be offered at a reduced price). Anyway, tip is to use the shower on the roof terrace. However, it is really bad water pressure, but you can anyway shower and change. Down by the pool there are only open shared outdoor showers. Changing room available.
Pool, mini golf, pool football and outdoor gym
The pool is really loved by the guests, who are largely filled with families with children. It’s a children’s/family hotel, no SPA hotel, the kids have really fun in the pool, full speed and lots of joy and splashes.
Sunbeds are included and when we stayed there we always got sunbeds, but then it should be added that we usually went there first thing in the morning, but it was probably mostly possible to get a sunbed even later in the day. You get a pool towel card at check-in which you exchange for towels and then you can exchange for clean pool towels when you wish. There are also a number of cabanas you can rent for 250 SEK per day. The sauna was closed during the day, but open at 4-10 pm.
Pool football was also a popular family activity. We also did plockepin (large size) on the pool football track.
The mini golf has nice courses (for a hotel area).
The outdoor gym we never used.
Area
Unfortunately, the hotel is quite far from Visby's inner city and it is not exactly a cozy walk along the harbor. Better way (faster but not very nice or cozy) is to follow the road from the hotel straight into Österport (1.3 km). There is a park with a playground across the street that is worth a visit for families with children. Further down the street, on the same side as the hotel is ICA supermarket with quite ok selection. There should be buses but relatively rarely and not exactly at the hotel. There is nowhere to eat right nearby (apart from the hotel), so you need to move into Visby if you want to find a range of alternative restaurants.
Parking
We had a rental car for a few days and then used the hotel parking. There was always room, even if it was relatively well stocked. Parking was paid for with parking app.
There were also some charging posts for those with electric cars.
Bicycle rental
Bicycles are available for rent but with a rent of 50 SEK per bike and hour it will be cheaper for a family to take a taxi.

丘の上にある新しめのホテル
We enjoyed the breakfast. There are crisp bread, fresh vegetable and fruit, cheese, eggs, bacons, yogurt and so on.
A little bit far from the old town but walkable.
