Perfect.
Very positive stay, friendly and attentive owners, nice room, amazing breakfast, everything is homemade. We loved our getaway. Thank you Christophe, Philippe without forgetting the sumptuous Topaz pussy that reigns indisputable chief.

An exceptional stay!
A relaxing setting and Feng Shui, an old building full of charm and a warm welcome: everything is there for a perfect stay. Guests, friendly and radiant, make the experience unforgettable. Special mention at breakfast, generous and composed of fresh products of excellent quality. A big 10/10!

A dream room!
Very nice romantic room and full of charm decorated with enormous taste. Great nice bathroom. Welcoming host and very good advice for visits. Hearty breakfast; homemade products and fresh. Region to visit for those who love nature and built heritage. Very quiet and green place.

Lovely accommodation
We have recently returned from a week at the large gîte called Le Pré du Chausson owned by Christophe and Philippe. This is just 100 metres along the road from the guesthouse. Following my phone call, Philippe met us there and very thoroughly explained the features and workings of the house. There is a small parking area to the side of the house and this can be secured by means of the lockable metal gate.
The house is situated high above a deep, wooded valley with a river running through it. So there’s a great view. We had very poor weather but it must be nice to sit on the patio and enjoy the view when it’s fine.
Although the old house looks a bit scruffy from outside, the interior has been completely renovated in a stylish and tasteful fashion. It is spacious, comfortable, warm and well-equipped. Heating is by electric radiators which kept the house at a very pleasant temperature, even though it was cold weather. There is a wood burner and a large stack of wood was provided; however, we never felt the need to light a fire.
The kitchen is large and well-equipped – plenty of pans and utensils. Bottled water, a bottle of wine, cheese, jams, ice-cream and some bread had kindly been left for us. The fridge/freezer is large and there is a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier, none of which we used!
There are 2 bedrooms, 1 with a double bed and the other twin beds. Although the lighting throughout the house is very good, the position of the ceiling lights and the low power of the bedside lamps in the double bedroom are such that reading in bed was difficult. Bed linen and towels are not included in the price but can be rented; as we were travelling by car, we took our own. Note that the double bed is a bit wider than normal so extra wide sheets are preferable. The bathroom and shower area are both large and nicely decorated. The shower produces a good flow and constant temperature. It was useful to have a second toilet downstairs.
The TV is large but has only French channels – not a problem as we speak French. There is a DVD player which we used also for playing CDs as the CD player in the HiFi stack didn’t seem to work. WiFi is provided by means of a mobile dongle and that worked very well, rarely dropping the connection.
Vieux-Château is quite a long village but has a small population and is incredibly quiet. We rarely saw anyone. Not surprisingly there is no shop or cafe. However, it is an easy walk on quiet lanes to Toutry and Epoisses, which each have more facilities, including a supermarket. We had a nice lunch at La Pomme d’Or in Epoisses – not cheap as we went à la carte, the basic Menu du Jour not appealing to us.
Philippe visited one evening to check everything was OK and again at the end of our stay and is clearly an affable, caring and thoughtful host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can heartily recommend this accommodation.

Incredible experience!
We loved everything!! The owner was very friendly and helpfull with recommandations. The room was superb: very nicely decorated, with a large bathroom, and a so confortable bed. We can't wait to come back! Did I already said that the breakfast was also amazing?
