Montage Laguna is as close to paradise you will ever get!
We were greeted with the most friendly and helpful staff who each made an effort to know our name. We were shown to our room which was like something sent from heaven, 2 balconies overlooking the ocean, wine and drinks on arrival, a bed I wanted to bring home with me, the fluffiest pillows I have ever felt, Chocolates left on our bedside locker every night. The room had a fireplace which made it very cosy, a perfect mix of the tranquil sounds of the ocean on the balcony, and homely feel inside.
I had a facial in the most beautiful spa I have ever seen, it was by far the best facial I have ever got in my life and my therapist gave me some great recommendations for what skincare I should buy. The hotel offer 2 pools and a hot tub which are open 24/7, an adult only pool and the front pool which has a guitar player playing every afternoon, creating a very chill vibe. The hot tub, steam room and spa relaxation room are all well worth a visit. We even got to meet a real-life mermaid!
Breakfast every morning that was fit for a king, and dinner in the loft every night, I highly recommend the bolognaise and New York steak with the creamiest mashed potato on earth (And that's saying something, I'm Irish!). But, honestly everything on the menu was delicious.
The plants all over the hotel are worth stopping to check if they're real (I did, they are), and the orchid display which would win an award in a garden show!
The lobby is breathtaking, a large bar area with an impressive wine, beer and cocktail list, so we could sit back and enjoy a talented pianist playing relaxing music every afternoon/night..he even played my favourite song 'The Pianoman'!
The hardest part of our stay was leaving the resort to explore Laguna beach, which has lots to offer. There is a beautiful coastal walk on your doorstep, with private access to the beach, tidal pools and activities.
The location, staff, service, rooms, facilities, food, drinks and vibe cannot be faulted.
The Montage staff (from the chef, managers, servers, cleaners, gardeners, the list goes on) truly are a family, and you can see the respect they show each other each and every day, it is wonderful to see.
The attention to detail and service is world class, its an 11/10 for us! We will be back!
Thank you Montage family, for the trip of a lifetime and creating memories we will still be talking about in 20 years!
We were overwhelmed with joy from the moment we arrived to the minute we left.

Disappointed
The valet staff was very friendly, but in the past they would have a fresh water in the car when they brought it around, or at least offer a bottle.
Many staff members were very friendly and helpful, but overall something is just missing.
It would be nitpicking to mention any of these things by themselves, but collectively it was a bit of a disappointment.
It feels like they are relying on the prime location, breath-taking location and spectacular grounds. However they need to try a little harder to focus on the guest service experience to be worthy of a 5 star resort.
